The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag!

I am soooo sorry, everyone! I know how badly I've been at blogging lately. I've been super busy at work, and I'm in my senior year of high school.

But today I have another tag for you, and this looks like a fun one! Let's get started!

1. Name a beauty regime you rarely do?
I don't blow dry my hair very often at all. All I do after I shower is blow dry my bangs so they dry straight, but I never blow dry the rest of my hair unless it's really late, because I don't like to go to bed with my hair wet. I don't know why, but it makes my hair feel weird when I wake up the next morning.

2. Is washing your makeup brushes something you do regularly?
Um, I would like to answer yes to this question, but I would be lying. I try to wash them as often as I can, it's just soooo much work....oops.

3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?
Regardless of how chipped my nail polish is, I always change my nail polish every week. Even if it's chipped beyond belief, or not chipped at all, I always change it every week without fail. I am definitely a person of habit.

4. How long will you put off buying/replacing a beauty product, even if you need it?
This is something I won't put off. At the first sign of something beginning to run out, I rush straight to the store to get it before I forget. I don't know what it is, but I don't like knowing that I need to do something and not do it straight away.

5. What is your worst beauty habit?
I know it's really bad, but I don't wash my face twice a day. I don't actually do anything in the skincare department at night, apart from removing my makeup.

6. Name something non beauty related that you put off doing all the time?
Well, right now I'm blogging while I should be studying for an exam I have tomorrow. So I guess that answers that question...

7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready until the very last minute?
NO. I give myself an hour every day to get ready, regardless of whether I actually need that much time. Being presentable is one thing I devote a lot of time too, and I get panicked when I think about oversleeping and having to go to school with only ten minutes to get ready or something.

8. Can you commit to spending bans?
Unless I run out of something vital like foundation, yes. I can go for months without buying any new makeup that I don't absolutely need. Which comes in handy when I'm trying to save money!

9. How organized is your makeup and nail polish collections?
My nail polish is very organized, I have a nail polish rack on my wall. My makeup, not so much. But I do try my best to keep my vanity tidy, because that's where all my makeup is stored, and where I get ready every day.

So that's it, guys! Thank you so much for reading, and I hope everyone has a good day!

Nail Polish Obsession Tag!

Hi guys!

So I know I've been really bad at posting lately and I'm really sorry, but I've been so busy with school and work, I haven't had any time at all.

I didn't really know what to post today, but I knew I had to post something, so I googled tag questions for nail polish tags, and I found one I thought was perfect! Let's hop in, shall we?

1. What is your favourite nail polish company?
My favourite nail polish company is definitely China Glaze or OPI, it's hard to choose between them actually- I have so many of both.

2. Glitter or no glitter?
I love the look of glitter nail polish, but it is such a pain to remove, so I usually steer clear of it and opt for not glitter nail polishes instead. Every so often, I do treat myself with glitter nails, but I usually regret it as soon as it comes to taking it off.

3. OPI, China Glaze, or Essie?
Like I said in the question above, I'm torn between China Glaze and OPI. I'm not a huge fan of Essie, I think they're a little overpriced for the quality, so I don't own many of those.

4.When do you change your nail polish?
I change the nail polish on my fingernails once a week, and the polish on my toes...well, less than that.

5. What is your favourite colour on your nails?
I really like wearing blues on my nails, both dark and light blues. Blues just go with most of the clothes I wear.

6. Darks or brights?
It depends on the season. I wear darks and brights all year round, but I mostly gravitate towards brights in the summer and darks in the winter.

7. What are you wearing on your nails right at this moment?
I am wearing Every Month is Oktoberfest from OPI's Germany collection.

8. Matte nails- in or out?
I don't particularily like the look of matte nails, sorry. It's just not my style.

9. French manicure?
I really like the look of French manicures, I just never have the time to do them myself or the money to get them done professionally.

10. Favourite winter colour? Summer colour?
My favourite winter colour is the one that is on my nails right now, and my favorite summer colour is Make Some Noise from China Glaze.

So that's all the questions! Thank you for reading!

Tutorial: Winged Eyeliner

Hi everyone!
So I've been getting some questions lately on how I do my winged liner (because I wear it everyday), so I thought I was do a little tutorial for you guys today.

So the first line you are going to draw is one following the natural line of your lower lash line. You can take it as high as you want.

Then the second line you will draw is just straight out of your eye like the picture above, and then connect to line number 1. Then you just fill in the gap! Easy as that.

So I hope you guys enjoyed this little tutorial, and I hope this sort of simplifies winged liner a little bit too.

Thanks for reading!

Review: ELF Studio Eyebrow Kits

Today's post is bringing you a review of some products from ELF, their Studio Eyebrow Kits. I have a big problem finding brow products that work for me, because they all seem too show up too warm/red on me. For reference, I have medium brown hair, and I usually tend to go for lighter brow products just in case it ends up looking unnatural.

My brows do not need much filling in; they aren't very sparse and the shape is fine so I don't really do a lot with them. But I also like to find a product to use, just so they look a little more finished.

So once I found these on ELF's website, I was torn with what colour to go for, since it is sort of hard to judge on the website. I ended up choosing two colours: Ash, which is kind of a neutral one for blonds/light brown hair, and light, for light/medium brown hair.

For size reference, the compact of these are the same size as one of their Studio Blushes.

Let's take a closer look at these, shall we?

This is the brush they come with. The brush side is for applying the powder, and the angled brush is for applying the wax. You're supposed to apply the wax, and then put the powder on top.

So the first one I have is Ash, which is the light, neutral one.

So on the left is the wax, which helps smooth your brows in place, and then the right has a powder to set everything. Ash is cool toned, so it will suit any skin tone.

Here's the swatch with the wax on the left, and powder on the right. Obviously, the powder doesn't really show up, and the wax is a little sheerer, but you really wouldn't want it any darker than that.

The second one I got is Light, which is the one I use the most often, because it just fits my brow colour better.

As you can see, this one is a little darker, but what I love about this is that it doesn't pull warm on me.

Formula wise, both the wax and powder apply smoothly and last a long time. I am very pleased with these, and I highly recommend them!

NOTD: China Glaze Tongue and Chic

China Glaze Tongue and Chic

Today's NOTD is a polish from China Glaze's new Fall collection, Autumn Nights. I had my eye on a couple of the shades, but I only picked up two colours...for now.

The one that caught my eye immediately was this colour, Tongue and Chic (cute name). It caught my eye because I didn't have anything like it in my collection. I have a lot of blues, and a lot of greens, but not a gorgeous blue/green mix like this.

Tongue and Chic is a shimmery  (almost frost finish) turquiose/emerald shade. It is an absolute stunner, and incredibly opaque. I only needed one coat for it.

The formula was a little bit troubling on this one, it was a little streaky and thick, and I got air bubbles on a couple of fingers.

I'm super excited for Fall, and to start wearing on the neutral colours on my fingers. Hot cocoa, leaf piles, scarfs, all of it. And cute nail polish, of course.

Review: The Balm NudeTude Palette with Photos and Swatches

TheBalm NudeTude Palette

Hey everyone!
Today's post is of a palette that is quite raved about in the beauty community for being a great palette for neutral shadow lovers out there- theBalm's NudeTude palette. I love neutral eyeshadows. I own both of the Naked Palettes from Urban Decay, and since I had never tried anything from theBalm, I figured this would be a good first thing to try since it has gotten such great reviews.

I've wanted to order this for a while now, but I waited until the brand went on sale on Hautelook, so I got this palette for 50% off ($18 instead of $36). The only downside to ordering this on Hautelook was that it took quite a while to be delivered (three weeks or so).

So today, I will be showing you guys what the palette contains and a description of each of the shades. The palette comes in thin cardboard packaging, which I just leave off most of the time. It comes with twelve shadows, and a double ended brush.

One side of the brush has a eyeliner brush, and the other side has an angled shadow brush.

And this is the back of the palette:

So let's take a closer look at those eyeshadows, shall we?

Top Row (from L-R): Sassy, Stubborn, Selfish, Sophisticated, Sexy, Serious
Bottom Row (from L-R): Snobby, Stand-offish, Sultry, Seductive, Silly, Sleek

They're so pretty! I like the layout of this palette- six lighter shades on the left, and then the six darker ones on the left. I also think all the names are really cute.
There are two types of the palette available if you order off theBalm's website, Naughty and Nice. They both have the same shadows in them. Naughty was the only one available on Hautelook, so that's the one I have. Some may find it a little risque, but I don't really care.

Top (from L-R): Sassy, Stubborn, Selfish
Bottom (from L-R): Snobby, Stand-offish, Sultry

(L-R): Sassy, Snobby, Stubborn, Stand-offish, Selfish, Sultry

1. Sassy: I think this was supposed to be the intended "highlight shade" of the bunch, but on my pale skintone, this shade is just too shimmery. Sassy is an super shimmery white shade, which, if it leaned a little more pink, would be perfect for highlighting for me.

2. Stubborn: I have a feeling that Stubborn is going to be a much loved shade for me in this palette. I love shades that lean pink, but aren't super warm. Stubborn is another shimmery (but not shimmery) shade. It's more pink than Stand-offish.

3. Selfish: This will most likely be my favourite shade of the palette, from what I used so far. I absolutely love taupe shades because they are not too brown that they look orangey on my skin. This shade especially has enough gray in it that it looks stunning on the skin. Love love love. This is also a shimmer.

4. Snobby: I do not think I will be getting much use at all out of this one, unfortunately. It's just really not my colour at all, it's too yellow. Snobby is medium toned yellow gold shimmer.

5 Stand-offish: This shade is the same finish as Stubborn, but it is lighter and leans less pink (more peach). It is very similar to Urban Decay's Sin, and since I love that shade, I know I'll love this one too!

6. Sultry: Sultry is a warm matte (bordering on satin) brown. Darker than Urban Decay's Naked.

Top Row (from L-R): Sophisticated, Sexy, Serious
Bottom Row (from L-R): Seductive, Silly, Sleek

(L-R): Sophisticated, Seductive, Sexy, Silly, Serious, Sleek

7. Sophisticated: This one is a dark brown with gold undertones, and some bronze shimmer. It's absolutely stunning, and I am very excited to get a lot of use out of this one. In terms of finish, it has more visible shimmer than Stand-offish, Stubborn, Snobby and Selfish. It is somewhat similar to Urban Decay's Darkhorse.

8. Sexy: Sexy is a matte burgundy with plum tones in it. It's a little more red than Urban Decay's Busted. It has a very smooth texture, but not chalky.

9. Serious: A plain matte black. It has pretty good pigmentation for such a dark shade, but it could be a little bit darker.

10. Seductive: This shade used to be called Schitzo in the old versions of the palette, not sure why they changed it. It is a warm golden brown, with a pearl finish.

11. Silly: Silly is a red toned brown with copper shimmer. This shade was the only one that had an issue with finish. It has fairly bad fall out, and the pigmentation isn't up to par with the rest of the shades.

12. Sleek: A matte dark brown. Very similar to Urban Decay's Backdoor. It has very good colour payoff.

In terms of colour payoff, the mattes were all very smooth and buttery, which is very impressive. With the exception of Silly, all the rest of the shimmery shades applied evenly with a buttery texture. I'm a little disappointed with the texture of Silly, but every palette has to have one not so good shade, right? The pigmentation of these was excellent, and I am very impressed with the quality of these shadows. For $34, it's a more reasonable alternative to the Urban Decay Naked Palettes.

The packaging on this is very sturdy, with a magnet strong enough to keep the cardboard palette shut. It also has a full length mirror.

All in all, I am very pleased with my first product from theBalm, and I will definitely be trying more!

NOTD: My BBC (Doctor Who/Sherlock) Themed Nails!

Hi everyone!
I am super excited to bring you this post. For anyone that doesn't know me, I am a huge fan of British television. Mainly Doctor Who and Sherlock, and so today, I will be showing you guys pictures of the nail polish look I did in honour of them.

This isn't going to be a step by step tutorial; that would take way too long, since most of the nails are different from the others.

So firstly, these are all the nail polishes I used:

Yeah, it was kind of a mess afterwards!! I used two tools to make the designs: a double sided dotter tool, and a nail art brush. I know that my nails aren't perfect, but I don't do nail art very often!

So first I'll show you what I did on both thumb nails:

I think it kind of ties the whole theme together! Doing this was actually way harder than I thought it was going to be, hence the uneven lines.

Ok, so here's my right hand:

So on my pinky finger I have the Daleks, which wouldn't make sense for anyone who hasn't seen the show. And on my ring finger (which is the same on both hands), is the TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimension in Space) , which is the Police Box the Doctor uses for his time travel. Then my middle finger is the one I am most proud of. It's the wallpaper in Sherlock's apartment, complete with the little spray painted smiley face.

And finally, my index finger is the 11th Doctor's (Matt Smith) standard outfit (I wear bow ties now...bow ties are cool).

Here's a close up of the Daleks.

And now on to my left hand!

So the thumb, ring, and pinky fingers are all the same on this hand, but the index and middle finger are different.

So my index finger is my attempt at the Doctor Who logo, which did not turn out as well as I had hoped. Ah well.

And finally, my middle finger is the 10th Doctor's (David Tennant) standard outfit.

So I hope this gave some inspiration to those of you who are fans of Doctor Who/ Sherlock to maybe try your own themed manicure! Hope you enjoyed!
