Review: eos Breast Cancer Awareness Pack

eos Breast Cancer Awareness Duo Pack

So I know that October was actually Breast Cancer Awareness Month and that was when lots of beauty brands came out with special collections and packs and donated the proceeds to breast cancer research.
But-this pack must be still available some places, because I actually got this as a Christmas present! So I thought I would go ahead and review it anyway, just in case it is still available for some people.

So this pack comes with a lip balm (which makes #10 in my collection!) and a lotion, which I have never actually tried before!

1. Strawberry Sorbet Lip Balm

eos Strawberry Sorbet Lip Balm

This is a lip balm I actually already own and love it, but I was running out! So I'm very pleased to have a back up!
I think I've already reviewed this one on my blog, but for the sake of the pack, I'll just tell you what I think quickly again.
eos Lip Balms are already my favourite lip balms, and this one is no exception. It smells just like strawberry, but not the plasticky scent of some lip balms. It is thick and moisturizing and makes a good base for lipsticks, since it doesn't actually have any colour of it's own.

2. Berry Blossom Hand Lotion

Berry Blossom Lotion

For starters, I really like the packaging of this. It's cute, but it's also practical; it's slim enough to fit into a purse or something. This was a little bit full when I got it, so the first time I squeezed some out, it just came out all by itself.
As for the lotion itself, it's definitely moisturizing. It can feel a little bit greasy on the skin when you first apply it, but it sinks in after awhile and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.

The scent is very strong, though. It doesn't smell completely of berries; there is definitely some floral notes mixed in. After putting it on your hands, you will smelling the scent for a long time after. It's not unpleasant, just very strong!

So there's my review on this value pack! Both the lotion and the lip balm can be bought by themselves, so don't worry if you missed this pack.

NOTD: China Glaze Twinkle Lights

China Glaze Twinkle Lights

Sorry for the long gap between blog posts! I've been really quite sick! Now I know that Christmas Day is over, but it always feels like the Christmas feeling lasts longer than the actual day.
So today I have my last Christmas manicure to show you. I put it on almost a week ago, but I managed to take pictures the day I painted them.

Twinkle Lights is from last year's holiday collection from China Glaze. I really got a lot from that collection!!
This, in my opinion, is the most Christmas-sy nail polish I own, so I saved it for the day itself. It is a clear based polish packed with (mostly) gold glitter, but red and green as well.

Application was a real pain for this one. Since I got it about a year ago, it's thickened up quite a bit since then, and now it is really clumpy and goopy. What you see here is about one (very thick) coat.

I'll be back to review some of the things I got for Christmas soon, but first I have to concentrate on getting better!

Thanks for reading!

Review: eos Alice in Wonderland Pack

(From L-R): Sweet Vanilla Nonsense, Blueberry Potion, Watermelon Wonderland

Now I know that these have been out for quite awhile now, but I only just got my hands on them, so I thought I'd post a quick review.
I LOVE eos lip balms. I use them religiously-and exclusively. They are moisturizing, don't feel too runny or thick, and of course, the packaging is super cute-and they smell amazing.
That being said, I'm doing this review 100% unbiased.

Now onto the review!!

1) Watermelon Wonderland:

eos Watermelon Wonderland

I'm going to begin with my favourite of the bunch. I love eating watermelon (the fruit, not the lip balm), so naturally I assumed I was going to love this one. And I was right. It smells exactly like watermelon. This one I find to be the thickest of the three, and the most moisturizing.
These lip balms are all clear, so there is no colour pay off on any of them. And that's ok, because I have other lip products to do that!

Rating: 9/10
It could maybe be a tad bit more moisturizing.

2. Sweet Vanilla Nonsense:

Sweet Vanilla Nonsense

This is my second favourite of the trio. I love all things vanilla (candles, ice cream, shower gel, perfume, etc.), so naturally I knew I would love this one. But I actually didn't like it as much as I thought I would.
It's definitely makes my lips super soft, but the vanilla scent is a little off. It smells sort of...plasticky (definitely not a word) and fake. It's not unpleasant, but not very natural.

Rating: 8/10
Like I said, the scent could be better, and it could have a little more moisture.

3. Blueberry Potion:

Blueberry Potion

Now this is my least favourite of the three. I find it to be the least moisturizing, and I am not a big fan of the scent. The scent isn't bad, but it's not very obvious. I expected to smell fresh blueberries, but to be honest, I don't really smell much! Maybe I got a bad one?

Rating: 7.5/10

And I have included a couple pictures of the packaging it came in, which is super cute. Alice in Wonderland (the original, not the Tim Burton) is one of my favourite Disney movies.

Overall:
Like I said earlier, I adore eos lip balms. They are some of the most moisturizing lip balms I've ever found.
But as for these specific ones, I really like them too! My favourites are Watermelon Wonderland and Sweet Vanilla Nonsense. I could have done without Blueberry Potion, but it does make a nice addition to my collection. I think I own 9 now? Yep, nine. Believe me, I totally needed every one! (A very apparent attempt to justify having 9 lip balms of the exact same color...what can I say? They smell really good!)

Obviously, if you like having colour on your lips, I would look elsewhere, as these are clear...but they make a great base for other lip products!

One thing I forgot to mention- the Mickey Mouse design on the outside of each separate is adorable! Well, they are from Disney.

Anyway, thanks for reading!! Have a great weekend!

NOTD: Essie Fishnet Stockings with China Glaze Ring in the Red

Essie Fishnet Stockings with China Glaze Ring in the Red

I'm back today with another Christmas manicure. It's getting close now!!

With today's look, I did something I have never done with a nail polish look before. I used masking tape in order to get the stripe of sparkly red on the corner of nails.

I own only two Essie nail polishes, and I never use them, barely ever. I just felt the urge to use this creamy red, because red is just such a Christmas colour!

But I didn't just want to wear a plain, so I added China Glaze's Ring in the Red, a sheer sparkly red. It was the perfect pop to make my nails super Christmas-sy!

I put on two coats of Fishnet Stockings and one coat of Ring in the Red, then two coats of top coat.

I really like the overall look!

Review: Mac Paint Pot in Bare Study

MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study

I honestly do not know why I have waited so long to do this review since this is literally a product I use, without fail, every single day.

For those of you not familiar with Mac Paint Pots, they are just cream eyeshadows that you can use to prime your eyeshadow, or you can wear it by itself.

Bare Study

As you can see, Bare Study is a beautiful shimmery champagne colour with gold undertones. I personally use this every day as a primer, which not only keeps my eyeshadows from creasing, but it also adds a beautiful sheen under any colour of eyeshadow.

Bare Study

But it's also great for a quick look when you don't have time to do anything else, because it looks great by itself too! It looks natural, but also really brightens up your eye.

These stay on all day for me, but I also use Urban Decay Primer Potion underneath it all. If worn by itself, Bare Study would last a super long time. It may crease though after awhile, it you put shadows on top.

Mac Paint Pots retail for $21CAD ($17 US) and can be purchased where ever MAC products are sold.

NOTD: China Glaze Ring in the Red over China Glaze Holly-Day

China Glaze Ring in the Red and Holly-Day

So since it's almost Christmas, I thought it was about time that I started doing Christmas nails! So I started with a smooth forest green, China Glaze's Holly-Day from last year's holiday collection.

China Glaze Holly-Day

I did one coat of Holly-day, which was all it needed to be completely opaque. Then I decided to add a sparkly red over top, so I chose Ring in the Red, from the same collection as Holly-day.

Ring in the Red over Holly-day

Since Ring in the Red is sort of sheer by itself, I thought it would be great layered over another colour. What you see here is one coat of Ring in the Red, one coat of Holly-day and two layers of top coat. All that made for a very smooth finish.

After only a day though, I had already acquired two chips on my thumb nail. But ah well, they can be easily fixed.

All in all, I really like the way it turned out; I think it's very Christmas-sy!!

Monday Questionnaire: December 10th, 2012

Time for another Monday Questionnaire!

1) Mood:
Happy, actually. I'm just recovering from a sore throat and a cough, and I'm just about better.

2) Does the winter season tend to draw you inside, or outside?
Definitely inside. Winter's are way too cold where I live to spend too long outside.

3) Would you rather wear summer clothes in winter, or winter clothes in summer?
If I could stay inside all day, then I would choose summer clothes in winter. Winter clothes in the summer heat would be awful!

4) Current nail polish:
China Glaze Ring in the Red over China Glaze Holly-day. Yay Christmas nails!

5) What is your idea of a holiday makeup look?
Definitely a red or berry lip look with some warm eyeshadow. Something with sparkle too!

6) Current outfit:
A blue flowery crop top with a gray long cardigan and leggings.

7) What is your favourite winter accessory?
Scarves and my Uggs.

8) You have a free day to do anything you want-what do you do?
Probably have a spa day. I think that would be really fun!

9) What are your favourite holiday decorations?
I really love when houses put up so many lights, they look like a gingerbread house. That always makes me really happy, and I love driving home and seeing all the lights.

10) Weekly Goals:
Keep warm!

Thanks for reading, and have a great week!!

EOTD with Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

EOTD

Today's eye look (well, the other day's actually) comes from Urban Decay's Naked 2 Palette, one of my favourite eye palettes of all time. I prefer it over the original Naked Palette, actually.

I used only three colours from the Naked 2 Palette and a couple of brushes. I'll show you which colours I used and the steps I did to get the look. Read on!

1. First, I put this pretty silvery colour, Verve, all over my lid. It's super shiny and reflective, so I didn't need that much.

2. Then, I put "Busted" on the outer part of my lid and into my crease to darken it up. I used a flat shadow brush for this.

3. Then using a small crease brush, I smoked Blackout, a rich matte black shade, into the outer portion of my lid and crease. I didn't need that much since it's very pigmented.

4. Then I lined my upper and lower lashlines with a simple black pencil liner.

5. Using Busted again, I ran it with a liner brush over the black liner I just applied.

6. Then with Blackout, I made a pretty thick line of just the outer portion of my upper and lower lash lines. Then I pushed that black up into my outer corner, just to smoke it up.

7. Then once again using Verve (the silvery shade), I ran that underneath the liner on my lower lashline. And then I used it to highlight my browbone and inner corner.

8. After all that, I just applied mascara to my upper and lower lashes, and that was the whole look!

Monday Questionnaire: December 3, 2012

Only three more Mondays after this one until Christmas! This year has flown by!

1. Mood: Christmas-sy! It's starting to hit me how close it actually is!!

2. You call into a radio station to request a Christmas song---which one is it??
Oh dear, I've never had to think about my favourite Christmas song before...I would probably have to go with Jingle Bell Rock. It's so catchy!!

3. What is your ideal handbag size?
LARGE. When I go shopping, I like to put everything I buy into my bag, so I don't have to carry any bags. And I need to fit my wallet, phone, sunglasses, etc. in there too!

4. Current nail polish:
China Glaze Tinsel Town.

5. What is the last fragrance you wore?
Givenchy Hot Couture. You know how a certain scent can just bring so many memories flooding back? This one does.

6. Current outfit:
Black leggings and a purple, green, orange and white crop top. Comfy, yet cute.

7. Which snow activity do you prefer: building snowmen, making snow angels, or having snow ball fights?
When I was younger, I used to love having snow ball fights. But now, they're sort of too aggressive for me, so I'm going to go with building snowmen.

8. What is your favourite restaurant cuisine?
Mexican, Indian, or Chinese. Good thing I'm decisive.

9. Can you whistle with your fingers?
Not if someone paid me a million dollars.

10. Weekly goals:
I have a test I have to take this week, and I don't really feel ready for it. I hope I'll be prepared enough for it!

Thanks for reading, and have a great week!!

NOTD: China Glaze Tinsel Town

China Glaze Tinsel Town

Since it is now December, my lead up to Christmas has now begun, which means...a month of Christmas nail polish!!

China Glaze Tinsel Town

Today's nail polish is Tinsel Town, another polish from China Glaze's last year holiday collection. This is a stunning charcoal base with small and larger pieces of circular silver glitter. I'm not entirely sure what's very Christmas-sy about it, but I suppose it kind of looks like...snow? Icicles? Whatever, it's pretty enough that I don't really care.

In some lights, it's hard to see the dark base of this, but it is there. The silver takes over sometimes, sadly. But it's still gorgeous.
Thankfully, this is not one of those super sheer glitters. This one only needed two coats to be completely opaque. The dark base really comes out in the second coat.

Unfortunately, this is a glitter, and like any glitter, this is a top coat eater. However, this is not the worst one I have ever encountered. I put on four layers of top coat, and it was pretty smooth. But- it was not very shiny and glossy, even with four layers.

Since this is from last year's collection, it is no longer available, but there are plenty of glitters in both the China Glaze and OPI holiday collections for this year!
