Review: Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara

So this is a review on a product that everyone in the beauty community has been raving about. Unfortunately, this isn't going to be another positive review to add to the list.

This mascara claims to give 200% more volume, with no clumps, despite how many coats you put. This mascara did none of the above for me. But this is where I'm confused. I know of so many other people who rave about this mascara, and I just don't understand why it didn't work for me. Maybe I got a bad tube? But regardless, don't be offended if you really like this mascara! This is just my opinion!!!

This mascara has a different brush than all the other mascaras in the LashBlast family. It's thinner and it's curved instead of straight. Covergirl claims that the bristles are perfectly placed apart to avoid clumps, so maybe my eyelashes are just at odd measurements?

The first thing I noticed when I pulled it out was how dry it was. Which makes me suspect that I might have gotten a bad tube, because this barely put any mascara on my lashes.

Before
After

I'm sorry, but those are definitely what I would call clumps to me!! This mascara just did not work for me, which was sad, because I had very high hopes!

Sorry, Covergirl, but you had a miss on this one. I might try it again in the future to see if it was just a bad tube. Fingers crossed!

Review: NYC Bronzer in Sunny

NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny

Today's post is a review of one of my new found daily products, NYC's Bronzer in Sunny. This is a much loved product in the beauty world, mainly for two reasons- it's a very good bronzer, and it's so CHEAP. NYC is one of the cheaper drugstore brands anyway, but I find that their line is very hit and miss. Luckily for everyone, this one is a hit!
I never used to wear bronzer. I was always too scared to put it on, as I always assumed it would look very orange, dark and unnatural on me.

(I really like the design of this bronzer. Unfortunately, the outer packaging looks sort of cheap and flimsy. But it is made up for because of the awesome bronzer inside and the cute sun design of the powder!)

The reason I like this bronzer so much is because of how natural it looks on me. It's a very light colour. That being said, it can be darkened to sort more medium coloured skintones. I am very pale, and it works well on me. Which is awesome, because a lot of bronzers can look way too dark on very pale skin tones! However, it might not show up as well on darker skintones.

It may look very orange in the swatch, but it doesn't translate onto the skin that way. It just gives a very natural glow to your face without being sparkly. This is a MATTE bronzer, which makes it good for contouring, or even an all over your face application if you use a light hand.

This is a pretty heavily applied swatch on my hand, as I wanted you to see the true colour of it if you built it up. I wear it much lighter on my face.

It wears well, it's a good colour, it's easily buildable, and you don't go through it very fast because you need so little! An all star product, in my opinion.

This retails for around $4 CAD, and can be bought wherever NYC products are sold.

I Love Spring Tag!!

After seeing missglamorazzi do this tag on Youtube, I thought I might as well give it a try on my blog too!! So this consists of 12 Spring related questions, so let's jump in!

1. Favorite spring nail polish?
My favourite spring nail polish is probably Make Some Noise from China Glaze. I have talked about it a lot on this blog already, and I actually just posted a NOTD with that, which you can check out here.

2. What is your must-have lip color this spring?
That would probably be Revlon's Lip Butter in Cotton Candy. It's the perfect pink for spring; it's fun, but it's not too bright for everyday wear. You can see the review of this here.

3. Show us your favorite spring dress!
I don't actually wear dresses, so this question doesn't have an answer!

4. What's your favorite flower?
Probably roses. They're so pretty and elegant, and they're the symbol of true love (cue: Awwww!!)

5. Favorite spring scarf/accessory?
My favourite accessory for spring would be scarves. I love any type of scarf, but in spring I really like to wear cotton, patterned scarves.

6. What spring trend(s) are you most excited about this year? (Makeup, fashion or both!)
For fashion, I really like the neon colours trend going around, especially the highlighter yellow/chartreuse coloured clothing. For makeup, I like the brighter blush, lip and eyeshadow colours.

7. Favorite spring candle?
Ooooh, that's a toughie. I usually only like the winter candles, because I really like foody scents when it comes to candles. However, i really enjoy the smell of the new Market Peach candle from Bath and Body Works. Smells amazing!

8. Favorite body spray/perfume for spring?
This is actually a scent I would wear all year round, but I have really been enjoying Taylor Swift's Wonderstruck Perfume. It's light enough for daytime wear, but you can spritz a little more on at night.

9. What is spring like where you live?
COLD. I live in Canada, and it usually snows until about May. So we don't really get much of a Spring, which sucks, because it's my favourite season!

10. What's your favorite thing about spring?
Once it actually becomes spring here, my favourite thing is the mild weather. Not too hot that I need to wear shorts, but also not cold enough that I need a jacket.

11. Are you a spring cleaner?
Not in the slightest.

12. Any plans for spring break or an upcoming vacation?
Unfortunately, no. I have too much schoolwork to do!!

So that's the entire tag! I hope you enjoyed this post, and thanks for reading!

NOTD: China Glaze Unfor-greta-bly Blue with OPI Goldeneye

Unfor-greta-bly Blue with Goldeneye

Today's NOTD is from two different brands, China Glaze and OPI. Unfor-greta-bly Blue, the base colour, is from this past summer's Germany collection from China Glaze. And Goldeneye is from OPI's James Bond collection.

This is what Unfor-greta-bly Blue looks like on it's own:

It is a shimmery cobalt blue, with a hint of turquoise. Goldeneye looks nice on it's own or layered over top of another polish, and it is a gold fleck polish in a clear base. It is very yellow toned.

I gave it one layer of top coat, just to tie things together. I really like the way it turned out!

NOTD: OPI Warm and Fozzie

OPI Warm and Fozzie

Today's post is a really super quick post of my nail polish I was actually wearing last week! It's OPI's Warm and Fozzie, which was from 2010's Holiday collection, the Muppets.

This is a really cool looking polish, because it has so many different colours in it. It's main colour is obviously bronze, but since it is a foil finish, it has lots of other sparkly colours like green, yellow and pink.

A couple of pics to show the duochromeyness (definitely not a word.)

It's super pretty! Since it was in the Muppets collection two years ago, you obviously can't get it anymore, but there are plenty of similar colours out there, so don't worry!

Worth A Look: Annabelle Kohl Eyeliner in White

Today's post is featuring a product that I use almost on a daily basis. It is the Annabelle Kohl Liner in White. I've already talked quite a bit about Annabelle liners on this blog, but I've never mentioned this one specifically. I'm going to tell you why I think this is "Worth A Look."

I use this everyday to line my lower waterline. Using a white or beige eyeliner there can fake the appearance of making your eyes look wider. Many people say that you should use beige because white can look unnatural. However, despite being pigmented, this eyeliner doesn't look unnatural on me, it just makes me look more awake!

These eyeliners are good quality, and pretty cheap (I think the Kohl ones are about $5 CAD), so I recommend checking them out if you're looking for a way to perk up your tired eyes in the morning!

Also a little side note, in case you were wondering, no this isn't harsh on your waterline, despite being a pencil. It's very smooth, unless you sharpen it to a very sharp point. You will probably also need to touch up throughout the day, as eyeliners usually have a tough job staying put on the waterline.

Review: Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting

Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting

Today's review is of my third Lip Butter, Sugar Frosting. This is one that I used to wear A LOT. I've kind of drifted away from my obsession with pale lip colours and this one basically sits in my drawer now, unused. Which is sad, because it's really quite a pretty colour!

I absolutely love the formulation of the Lip Butters, and they are a much talked about product among the beauty community. They are super moisturizing, but they also pack a punch when it comes to the colour department.

I wish I did wear this colour more, but it just doesn't look that great anymore on me. Unless I put a gloss on top, then it looks great! Pale colours just sort of wash me out now.
Sugar Frosting is a super pale pink/nude with gold shimmer. It's warm toned on my skin, but when I put it on my lips, it looks cooler.

I love this colour; I just don't get much use out of it now! I still love the Lip Butters, though, and I highly recommend checking them out.

NOTD: China Glaze Make Some Noise

WARNING: I am so sorry for the crappy pictures in this post. My camera just DID NOT want to pick up the true colour of this nail polish, so I had to take some flash pictures, which actually shows it best.

This was the most accurate picture I could get. This is in natural light, which didn't work either, because it was super cloudy that day. I managed to capture this picture though, and it shows the polish pretty true to colour.

This polish is from China Glaze's Electropop collection, which was released last summer, so it obviously isn't available anymore. However, I don't really do NOTD posts for review purposes, I do them mostly just to show off what nail polish I put on this week!

That being said, there is a fairly similar colour to this in OPI's most recent collection, Euro Centrale, and the colour is called "Suzi's Hungary Again!" (pretty cute name, if you ask me.)

Make Some Noise is a pretty coral pink, and it is one of my favourite colours to wear when it gets warmer out. It's just so fun.

I used two coats of this, but it was almost opaque with just one.
