Review: Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Coral Reef

Today's review is of a lip gloss from Revlon, one of their Super Lustrous lip glosses in Coral Reef. Now Revlon has recently repackaged and reformulated the Super Lustrous lip glosses, but this is one of the old shades, which are still being sold.

The formula for this gloss is probably the best I've ever had from a lip gloss. I shouldn't be surprised though; I've heard many people rave about these glosses. It's thick, but not too sticky, and it gives off a high shine. The pigmentation is great too.

In the tube, Coral Reef looks like more of a coral that leans quite pink, but when it's swatched and on the lips, it comes off much more like a true coral.

The colour is still gorgeous though, and it's one I'm going to be using a lot this summer! I highly recommend checking out the Super Lustrous glosses.

Review: Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya

Today's review is of another Revlon lip butter, Juicy Papaya. This was released as part of Revlon's summer collection. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get this when that collection came out, because all of them sold out too quickly.

However, Juicy Papaya and the other three lip butters that were released with the collection have been made of Revlon's permanent Lip Butter collection. So if you missed out on the summer collection, like I did, don't worry, because you can still find them!

Juicy Papaya was the only one I really wanted out of the four new lip butters, the other three being Sorbet, Wild Watermelon, and Pink Lemonade.

Juicy Papaya is a gorgeous coral colour which is coming off more orange than it actually is in the picture above. Imagine that shade, just with more pink tones.

When swatched, it does come off quite orange, but on the lips, it looks a little different. I read some blogger's reviews who said that it came off more pink on their light coloured lips, but since my lips are pretty pigmented, it came off as more of a true coral on me.

I have been so into corals for the summer, I have coral lip products, nail polish, clothes, eyeshadow, blush, you name it.

As with other lip butters, the formula of this is moisturising, smooth, and shiny. This is a little sheerer than other lip butters, though.

This is a couple of swipes of product so you can sort of see that it's sheerer than other colours in the line.

Review: Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting

Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting

Today's review is of my third Lip Butter, Sugar Frosting. This is one that I used to wear A LOT. I've kind of drifted away from my obsession with pale lip colours and this one basically sits in my drawer now, unused. Which is sad, because it's really quite a pretty colour!

I absolutely love the formulation of the Lip Butters, and they are a much talked about product among the beauty community. They are super moisturizing, but they also pack a punch when it comes to the colour department.

I wish I did wear this colour more, but it just doesn't look that great anymore on me. Unless I put a gloss on top, then it looks great! Pale colours just sort of wash me out now.
Sugar Frosting is a super pale pink/nude with gold shimmer. It's warm toned on my skin, but when I put it on my lips, it looks cooler.

I love this colour; I just don't get much use out of it now! I still love the Lip Butters, though, and I highly recommend checking them out.

Review: Revlon Lip Butter in Cupcake

Revlon Lip Butter in Cupcake

Today's review is going to be of another lip colour, Revlon's Lip Butter in Cupcake. This is probably my least favourite of the three that I own, but I thought I would review it anyway.

I really don't wear it that often, and when I do, I put a lip gloss on top. It is also the one out of the three I own that I wear the least.

I absolutely love the formulation of the Lip Butters, and they are a much talked about product among the beauty community. They are super moisturizing, but they also pack a punch when it comes to the colour department.

The reason I don't wear this colour very often is that it doesn't look very natural on my lips. It's a bit too bright for me, but it looks more toned with a lip gloss on top.
Cupcake is a bright baby pink with cool/blue undertones. It's very pretty, and I'm sure it would look great on other people, but without a gloss, it doesn't look to great on me.

I love this colour, but it would probably work better for someone who was a bit more daring with their lip colours!
Revlon Lip Butters can be bought at any drugstore, and I highly recommend checking them out!

Review of Fresh Sugar Lip Balm Duo

Fresh- Sugar Lip Balm Duo

Today's post is going to be a quick review of a lip balm duo that I got as part of my Sephora birthday gift. These are mini sizes, so the regular size is going to be bigger than the tubes shown in these pictures.

The set comes with two lip balms-the regular Sugar Balm, and the Sugar Rose balm, which has a pink tint. Both of them have SPF 15.

The regular Sugar Lip Treatment is just a clear balm, great to use if you're lips are super dry, or if you need a base for another lip colour.

The Sugar Rose Lip Treatment is the same formula as the regular, but with a rosy tint instead. It looks a lot brighter in the tube than it actually is.

Here are swatches of the two. The regular is on the left, which you obviously can't see much of, but you might be able to see a bit of shine.
The Rose one is on the right, and as you can see, it's a pretty toned down pink, which looks nice and natural on the lips.

Now that I've talked about the colours, I'll talk about the formula.

For starters, these lip balms are VERY THICK. The downside to being so thick is when you put them on, they seem to just sit on your lips instead of actually sinking in and making your lips super soft. They leave an almost greasy feel.

They are very moisturizing, more so than any other lip balm I've tried. You just have to make sure to rub your lips together to work it in.

They are also very creamy. If you leave these in your pocket, or in a purse, they will melt. And for the price that these lip balms, you can't afford to let that happen!

Overall Rating: 7.5/10
I would give them a higher rating if they weren't so thick. But once they do sink into your lips, it's worth the extra effort.

These cost $26-28 CAD for a regular sized single lip balm at Sephora.

Review: Revlon Lip Butter in Cotton Candy

Revlon Lip Butter in Cotton Candy

Today's post is going to be a quick review of my new favourite lip product, Revlon's Lip Butter in Cotton Candy (side note-I love how all the colours in this line are named after food).

I bought this ages ago, right when the Lip Butters first were released. I barely used it, because I loved lighter lip colours, and this seemed too dark and too bright for me. But the other day when I was just playing around with my makeup, I just put this on randomly...and really liked it.

So I started wearing it every day, and liked it more and more every time I used it.
Cotton Candy is a toned down bright pink with warm undertones. It looks actually very natural on the lips.

I absolutely love the formulation of the Lip Butters, and they are a much talked about product among the beauty community. They are super moisturizing, but they also pack a punch when it comes to the colour department.

Love this colour! It goes with so many of my outfits, and it just adds something to the face without looking overdone.

I highly recommend checking out the Revlon Lip Butters! I own two other colours apart from Cotton Candy, which I also really love.

Review: eos Breast Cancer Awareness Pack

eos Breast Cancer Awareness Duo Pack

So I know that October was actually Breast Cancer Awareness Month and that was when lots of beauty brands came out with special collections and packs and donated the proceeds to breast cancer research.
But-this pack must be still available some places, because I actually got this as a Christmas present! So I thought I would go ahead and review it anyway, just in case it is still available for some people.

So this pack comes with a lip balm (which makes #10 in my collection!) and a lotion, which I have never actually tried before!

1. Strawberry Sorbet Lip Balm

eos Strawberry Sorbet Lip Balm

This is a lip balm I actually already own and love it, but I was running out! So I'm very pleased to have a back up!
I think I've already reviewed this one on my blog, but for the sake of the pack, I'll just tell you what I think quickly again.
eos Lip Balms are already my favourite lip balms, and this one is no exception. It smells just like strawberry, but not the plasticky scent of some lip balms. It is thick and moisturizing and makes a good base for lipsticks, since it doesn't actually have any colour of it's own.

2. Berry Blossom Hand Lotion

Berry Blossom Lotion

For starters, I really like the packaging of this. It's cute, but it's also practical; it's slim enough to fit into a purse or something. This was a little bit full when I got it, so the first time I squeezed some out, it just came out all by itself.
As for the lotion itself, it's definitely moisturizing. It can feel a little bit greasy on the skin when you first apply it, but it sinks in after awhile and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.

The scent is very strong, though. It doesn't smell completely of berries; there is definitely some floral notes mixed in. After putting it on your hands, you will smelling the scent for a long time after. It's not unpleasant, just very strong!

So there's my review on this value pack! Both the lotion and the lip balm can be bought by themselves, so don't worry if you missed this pack.

Review: eos Alice in Wonderland Pack

(From L-R): Sweet Vanilla Nonsense, Blueberry Potion, Watermelon Wonderland

Now I know that these have been out for quite awhile now, but I only just got my hands on them, so I thought I'd post a quick review.
I LOVE eos lip balms. I use them religiously-and exclusively. They are moisturizing, don't feel too runny or thick, and of course, the packaging is super cute-and they smell amazing.
That being said, I'm doing this review 100% unbiased.

Now onto the review!!

1) Watermelon Wonderland:

eos Watermelon Wonderland

I'm going to begin with my favourite of the bunch. I love eating watermelon (the fruit, not the lip balm), so naturally I assumed I was going to love this one. And I was right. It smells exactly like watermelon. This one I find to be the thickest of the three, and the most moisturizing.
These lip balms are all clear, so there is no colour pay off on any of them. And that's ok, because I have other lip products to do that!

Rating: 9/10
It could maybe be a tad bit more moisturizing.

2. Sweet Vanilla Nonsense:

Sweet Vanilla Nonsense

This is my second favourite of the trio. I love all things vanilla (candles, ice cream, shower gel, perfume, etc.), so naturally I knew I would love this one. But I actually didn't like it as much as I thought I would.
It's definitely makes my lips super soft, but the vanilla scent is a little off. It smells sort of...plasticky (definitely not a word) and fake. It's not unpleasant, but not very natural.

Rating: 8/10
Like I said, the scent could be better, and it could have a little more moisture.

3. Blueberry Potion:

Blueberry Potion

Now this is my least favourite of the three. I find it to be the least moisturizing, and I am not a big fan of the scent. The scent isn't bad, but it's not very obvious. I expected to smell fresh blueberries, but to be honest, I don't really smell much! Maybe I got a bad one?

Rating: 7.5/10

And I have included a couple pictures of the packaging it came in, which is super cute. Alice in Wonderland (the original, not the Tim Burton) is one of my favourite Disney movies.

Overall:
Like I said earlier, I adore eos lip balms. They are some of the most moisturizing lip balms I've ever found.
But as for these specific ones, I really like them too! My favourites are Watermelon Wonderland and Sweet Vanilla Nonsense. I could have done without Blueberry Potion, but it does make a nice addition to my collection. I think I own 9 now? Yep, nine. Believe me, I totally needed every one! (A very apparent attempt to justify having 9 lip balms of the exact same color...what can I say? They smell really good!)

Obviously, if you like having colour on your lips, I would look elsewhere, as these are clear...but they make a great base for other lip products!

One thing I forgot to mention- the Mickey Mouse design on the outside of each separate is adorable! Well, they are from Disney.

Anyway, thanks for reading!! Have a great weekend!

I <3 Drugstore Makeup Tag!

So emilynoel83 of Youtube tagged me to this tag. So without further ado, here is the "I <3 Drugstore Makeup Tag"! It consists of eight questions, all about my favorite brands/products you can get from your local drugstore.

Let's jump right in!!

1) What is your favourite drugstore makeup brand?
This is sort of a hard question. I like lots of brands from the drugstore; as I think they all have their hits and misses. I can't just choose one! Ok, I'll pick one for each category. I like Revlon for their face products, I like Covergirl for their eye products, Maybelline for their mascaras, and Revlon for lip products.

2) What are your favorite face, cheek and lip products?
My favourite face product
would have to be a primer from Rimmel- The Fix and Perfect Pro.

Rimmel Fix and Perfect Primer

This makes my foundation stay on a lot longer!! And it makes my face very smooth and soft. I'm not sure that's viable criteria for a good primer, but whatever.
My favourite cheek product is a highlighter from Revlon- the Colorstay Mineral Finishing Powder in Rose.

Revlon Colorstay Mineral Powder in Rose

It gives such a nice glow to the cheeks. I apply it on my cheekbones, above my eyebrows and on my cupid's bow and it really brightens up my face.
Another favourite cheek product is a blush from Rimmel. It's in Pink Sorbet. It's more pigmented than any of my MAC blushes, and it gives a nice sheen to the face without being shimmery or sparkly.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Blush in Pink Sorbet

My favourite lip product is also from Revlon. It's the Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting, which is a light pink with gold shimmer. It's a good way to do a nude without washing yourself out.

Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting

I also really love all the eos lip balms. They make your lips very soft without being too thin or too thick. And they smell great!

3) Least favourite product?
That would have to be something I bought from Hard Candy (sold at Walmart) a while ago. I was hoping it would be a good highlight, but it turned out to be a chalky white powdery with yellow glitter scattered around. Not a fan.

Hard Candy Moon Glow Powder

4) What is your best makeup bargain?
For me, that would be Covergirl eyeshadow (the singles, duos, trios and quads). They run about $3-$6 CAD, and they have really great pigmentation and colour payoff. One of my favourites is the colour Tapestry Taupe.

Covergirl Eyeshadow in Tapestry Taupe

5) What is your favourite underdog product? (Something you love that often gets overlooked?)
Annabelle eyeliners! They are such amazing quality and they are so inexpensive!! They are comparable to Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliners.

Annabelle Eyeliners

6) A drugstore product that is overpriced?
I don't have a specific product, but I think a lot of L'Oreal products are overpriced, when they're quality doesn't really surpass some more reasonable brands.

7) Show your best drugstore dupe(s)!
Well, this question brings me back to the Annabelle eyeliners. Particularly a line called the Smoothliners. A lot of the colours in the line are dupes for many of the Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliners, which are about three times the price.

Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Perversion
Annabelle Smoothliner in Brownie

These aren't exact dupes (one is black and the other is brown), but the intensity of their pigmentation is very similar.

8) Drugstore product that isn't worth the hype?
I know this isn't technically a drugstore priced item, but these are sold at the drugstore. And they're Essie nail polishes. I know a lot people love them, but I own three, and they just don't live up to the quality of my OPI and China Glaze ones.

Essie Polishes in (L-R) Case Study, Fishnet Stockings, Fiji

So that's the entire tag! Thanks for reading!!
